Our first month of Kindergarten!
We have had the best first month of school! Thank you so much for sending in all of your paperwork, supplies, etc! The children are adjusting to their new environment and routines so well, we all feel very in the swing of things! Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us everyday!
During this month we've met all of our "specials" teachers and hung out with our 6th grade buddies! We've gained compliments from teachers around the school to fill out our COMPLIMENT chart, and we earned extra outside recess!! Yay K!
In ELA we have begun Unit 1: Plants and Animals Have Needs! Our essential question we have been returning to is: Why do living things have different needs? Throughout this unit we have been working on letter recognition, recognizing & producing rhymes, blending syllables, and reading fluency. Our comprehension goals have been: identifying parts/features of a book, identifying main topic & key details, describing the relationship between illustrations & the text, and comparing two texts on the same topic. In grammar we have learned nouns and action verbs! We work each and everyday on our writing & fine motor skills!
In Math: We worked through Chapter 1 which focused on differentiating between items that were same, alike, and different as well as sorting by shape and color. We have now moved into Chapter 2 which focuses on geometry and patterns!
In Religion: We learned all about the Creation Story focusing on all of the wonderful gifts God has given us! We celebrated Mary and began learning about the rosary. We are practicing making the sign of the cross and praying our morning & dismissal prayers.
