Week of February 20th

 100 Days in Kindergarten!

Happy Friday!

It was an amazing week in Kindergarten! This week we learned about how do living things change as they grow! Our read alouds this week were It Is The Wind, From Caterpillar to Butterfly, Henry and Bea!, and Pug Meets Pig & Sheep in a Jeep (our star student Bruce's favorite books!). We also celebrated our peacemaker Norah!! 💗

This week we learned about how things change as they grow, we talked about mostly butterflies and humans. How fitting to end our week long discussion dressed up as 100 years old! We focused on sequence of events and retelling! Our letter of the week was 'Jj'! We met our next letter person Ms. J with a Jingle Jacket! We also completed the puppet. In grammar we focused on proper nouns, and named some of our own. We continued through Chapter 6 in Math learning about halves, fourths, more likely, equally likely, less likely, and making lists. In Religion this week we learned about the Lenten season, attended Mass, and Stations of the Cross.

In Centers this week, we went crazy for 100! In the Word Work Center we used our Fundation letter tiles building & segmenting words. In the math center the students rolled dice racing each other to reach 100! The students also made a special 100 craft in the Art Center with Mrs. Lowe! In the discovery center the students planned and built towers using 100 cups. Students read a book, played on the iPad, or did a puzzle in the free center!

Our class turned 100 days old!! We had the best day celebrating 100 days together. I have never seen that many canes in a Kindergarten room before! We started our day making a "100 Days Smarter" crown and coloring sheet. For math we had a scavenger hunt around the room for numbers 1-100 and placed them together on a 100s chart (still missing a few that I bet I will find while cleaning up the room in June!). We ended our day with a sweet 100 snack from Mrs. Lowe!

Next Week:

  • Read Across America Week
  • Tuesday: Stations of the Cross
  • Thursday: Library and Gym

Looking Ahead ...
  • Friday, March 10th: No School - Faculty in-service day & 2nd Trimester Ends
Have a great weekend!

Best,
Miss Ryan & Mrs. Lowe
