Week of May 15th

 Happy Friday!

What a week we had! From May Procession to Grandparents Day, we had a blast during our last full week of school! Thank you all for coming to our May Procession - the children did an excellent job honoring our Blessed Mother. It is such a beautiful way of sharing our faith together as a community. It was also such a joy to meet all of our grandparents & special friends yesterday!! It is so great to watch all of these happy memories being made πŸ˜„
Congratulations to our 3rd Trimester peacemaker Maggie!

Where did the year go? Countdown to graduation is 9 days!

Our read alouds this week were One of Three, Mrs. McBloom Clean Up Your Classroom!, The Crayon Man, and Noah's Ark. When reading One of Three we focused on comparing and contrasting the characters. We continue substituting, segmenting, and blending sounds to create and change words each day. We practiced working as a group to create sentence for our new sight words: have, one, ask, help, every, and walk. We are catching up with our letter person journals writing sentences each day! In math we continued through Chapter 11 by learning about weight, ordering objects from lightest to heaviest, capacity, and ordering objects from holding the least amount to the most. In Religion we crowned Mary each day and say a decade of the rosary.

We had a ton of fun in centers this week! In the Word Work center, I worked with the students in reading a book and completing a story map! In the Math center, students used string to measure their height and compared their height to objects around the classroom. In the Discovery center students watched an informational video about sea creatures. In the Art center the students made another special surprise for the end of the year :). Students colored, did a puzzle, or played on an iPad during the free center.
