Week of Nov 7th - 11th

 Happy Friday!

We had another great week in Kindergarten! This week we had a great time learning about all the different ways people and animals move! Our read alouds this week were Jonathan and His Mommy, Move!, The Tortious and the Hare, and The Pigeon Wants a Puppy & The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! (our star student Beau's favorite books!).

In ELA this week we focused on movement! We spoke about the different ways we can move our own bodies and the different ways animals move as well! We wiggled our fingers, hopped like bunnies, waddled like penguins, and more! We continued working through our phonics program reviewing the sounds & letters of b, t, f, m, n, i, u, o & c. We introduced another vowel 'a' and the letter 'g'. Our letter of the week was 'Nn'! We met our next letter person Mr. N with a Noisy Nose! We finished the sentence "My noisy nose can ..." in our letter journals, along with the Mr. N puppet. They loved coming up with silly sounds their noisy noses could make! We continued with learning position words in Math. This week we focused on the words: top, middle, bottom, over, on, under, inside, outside. In Social Studies we learned about Veteran's Day and created posters giving thanks for our freedom! We also wrote Christmas cards to a group of soldiers that will be deploying on Christmas. In Religion we learned about the Liturgical Year. In gym, the students were able to enjoy the beautiful weather on Thursday outside! In Art they read Little Star, began a project about "Keeping Christ in Christmas" and colored a turkey. They chose new books in Library, sang in Music, and continued practicing greetings & colors in Spanish!

Centers were back this week! In the word work center, the students completed an alphabet puzzle & practiced handwriting on our lined dry-erase boards. In the art center the students created colorful 3D turkeys using plates & cups! In the discovery center the students designed their own turkey. In the math center we used position words to help us paste pigs around a farm! They also read a book, played with Playdoh, or on the iPad in the free center :).

Next Week:
