Week of May 1st

 Happy Friday Kindergarten!

We can't believe it's May already! How did the time fly? The countdown to graduation is now 19 days!

Our read alouds this week were Bread Comes to Life, Pie in the Sky, Wacky Wednesday, I Can Only Imagine: A Friendship With Jesus, Sweet Tooth, and Pajama Day!

In ELA this week when reading Pie in the Sky we focused on text, graphic features, and summarizing as comprehension skills. We continue substituting, segmenting, and blending sounds to create and change words. We practiced our sight words from Unit 5 through our class favored word wheel! Our letter of the week was 'Yy'! We met our next letter person Ms. Y with a Yodeling Yawn! We completed our Ms. Y puppet. In math we took our Chapter 10 test (they did amazing!!) and began Chapter 11: Measurement. In chapter 11 we have compared by size & length, and ordered by length. In Religion we crowned Mary each day and said a decade of the rosary. After reading I Can Only Imagine: A Friendship With Jesus, students drew pictures of God and themselves!

Centers were a ton of fun! In the Word Work center we matched pictures to the diagraphs th, ch, and sh. In the math center students matched analog & digital clocks showing the same time. In the discovery center students used playdoh to sculpt the four stages of a butterfly life cycle. In the art center the student's made something special for their Mom's :). Students drew, did a puzzle, or played on the iPad during the free center.

We let our butterflies fly into nature today! We loved having you Joey, Messi, Nemo, Rainy, and Sunny!
