Week of March 27th

 Happy Friday!

Can you believe it is almost April? During calendar we have been counting down how many days we have left to be Kindergarteners - we have 39 days of school left! This week our read alouds were Be Kind, Be Brave, Be You!, A Tiger Grows Up, and Our Money

In ELA this week we focused on substituting, segmenting, and blending sounds to create and change CVC words! During our read alouds we focused on story structure & sequence of events. We practiced our sight words by walking around the room and recording the word on our friends' backs! Our letter of the week was 'Ll'! We met our next letter person Ms. L with the Longest Laugh! We completed our Ms. L puppet and finished the writing prompt "I laugh out loud at ...". In math we took our Chapter 8 Test, which the students did wonderful on, and began Chapter 9. In Chapter 9 we are focusing on money! This week we learned about & compared pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters! Please send in your child's coins when you can! In Religion we learned all about Easter and how we celebrate new life!

Centers were Easter filled this week! In the Word Work center the students used pictures & letter tiles to build and record CVC words. In the math center the students used straws to pick up jelly beans to create addition sentences! The children made beautiful crosses with gem stones in the art center! In the discovery center the children built shelters for a 'peep' using tooth picks and gum drops. The students were able to read a book, play on the iPad, or do a puzzle in the free center!
