Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a great weekend! We can't believe April is almost over - this year is flying by too fast!
In ELA last week we read "Oscar and the Frog" and "Zinnia's Flower Garden". During our readings we focused on visualizing and sequence of events. We discussed beginning, middle, and endings of the stories. We continue substituting, segmenting, and blending sounds to create and change CVC words. We review long and short vowels each week as well. Last week we learned also our diagraphs 'ch' 'ck' 'sh' 'wh' and 'th'! We practiced our sight words by rainbow writing, picking them out of a word jar, and matching words with a partner! Our letter of the week was 'Vv'! We met our next letter person Ms. V with a Vegetable Vest! We completed our Ms. V puppet and wrote in our journals. In math we took our Chapter 9: Money test - they did awesome!!! We have now moved into Chapter 10: Time. In Religion we talked about how at Baptism we became members of the church - thank you for sending in your children's Baptism pictures. The students loved guessing their friends baby pictures :)
We learned all about taking care of our Earth - reduce, reuse, recycle was our motto! We made awesome Seed balls and had a tree snack!
Big news ... our caterpillars are now beautiful butterflies!!
We also filled up our compliment chart and earned a PJ + Movie + Stuffed Animal Day! We will schedule this for sometime next week - more info to come! (So proud of them!π)
This Week:
- Friday: $1 Dress Down Day - all proceeds will benefit our sister school St. Martin de Porres. Also our April Birthday celebration!
Looking Ahead ...
- First week of May we will begin Crowning Mary each day! The schedule was sent home last week.
Here's to a great week!π
